Alice Jean Dunmyer

DUNMYER, Alice Jean Guckian, a current resident of Riverwalk Commons Retirement Community in Noblesville, and a longtime resident of Kettering, Ohio passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014. Mrs. Dunmyer was born in Richmond, Indiana, on August 12, 1929. Her parents were Maude and Willard Guckian of Camden, Ohio. Mrs. Dunmyer graduated from Camden High School in 1947 and Miami University in 1951. While at Miami, she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. After graduation, Mrs. Dunmyer taught elementary school in Eaton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas. She was a substitute teacher in the Kettering school system for over 35 years. Mrs. Dunmyer was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Kettering, Ohio and its Priscilla Fellowship. She was also a member of the Ohio Child Conversation League. Mrs. Dunmyer is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul Nelson; her daughter Cynthia Hill; sons Michael and James and his wife Janet; grandchildren Nicholas and his wife Emily, Olivia, and Andrea Hill, and Joshua and his wife Hanna, Justin and Janessa Dunmyer; great grandchildren Claire and Audra Hill; and brothers James Guckian and his wife Jo Ann, Robert Guckian and his wife Debbie, all of Preble County. Mrs. Dunmyer was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Guckian. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 also at the funeral home. Burial will be held in David's Cemetery.
