Andrea J. Fischer

FISCHER, Andrea J., age 79, of Centerville, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Andrea was born on February 22, 1944 to the late Joseph and Janet Grady, in Providence, RI. She grew up in the Providence area and graduated from Warwick Veteran’s Memorial High School, class of 1962. While attending Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, Andrea met the love of her life, Donald Fischer, while he was serving in the US Navy. Andrea and Donald married in Warwick, RI in December of 1965. They started their family in Rhode Island, before moving to the Dayton area where Donald was raised. Andrea was proud to work as a nurse for almost 50 years, primarily in long-term care, retiring from Walnut Creek Nursing Home in Dayton. Andrea’s strong faith guided her throughout life. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors, being one of the first to step in during times of need. Her kind, compassionate, and caring personality will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Andrea is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald L Fischer; Son, Tim (Alison) Fischer; their children Brandon, Kaitlyn, Sam and Dan; daughters Christine (Justin) Vesely; their children Nicky, Sam and Oliver; Ann Marie (Philip) Scalero; their children Mason and Owen; and numerous extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Village as well as the care team at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton for the excellent care they provided Andrea. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4-6pm, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am the following day at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45459.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in Andrea’s name, may be made to Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
