Betty Lee Sikes

SIKES, Betty Lee (Taylor), age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. Betty graduated from Stivers High School and retired from Rikes Department Store as a security officer. Betty volunteered at church in their clothing room. During her many years of involvement with the Antioch Shrine, she was elected High Priestess, was in the Widow's Club and a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ed Sikes; her mother, Dagney "Larsen" Taylor; her father, Chalmer Taylor; and her brother, Robert Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Jay) Powell, Cindy (Jim) Sherman, Dianne (Jack) Gray; her grandchildren, Marcy, Shannon, Michelle, Cassie, Heather and Lindsay and 5 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Charlie, Dominic, Madison and Kloe; her sisters, Dorothea Brown and Judy Amundson; and her brother, Don Taylor. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Ohmer Park United Methodist Church, 1357 Arbor Ave., Dayton. Family will greet friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
