Carol Elizabeth Hughes

HUGHES, Carol Elizabeth, age 79, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017. Carol was born on July 22, 1937 to John and Alice (Calnan) Meehan in Cincinnati, OH. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in Cincinnati, a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, and was a member of the Jeanne Jugan Society. Carol was a religious education teacher for years and also volunteered at Hospice of Dayton. She loved sweet and beautiful things, from Graeters chocolate chips to her 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was a Lady of the Holy Sepulchre and awarded the Boy Scouts Bronze Pelican Award. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Fred Hughes. She is survived by her children, Pam Magnus, Tom (Heather) Hughes, Dave Hughes, Dr. Shawn (Amy) Hughes; grandchildren, John (Raechel), Joe (Becky), Jeff (Megan Donahue) Magnus, Shannon (Jenn Arens), Molly, Jack, Jacob, and Harrison Hughes; great-grandchildren, John Jr & Adam Magnus; sister, Alice Kitzmiller and beloved nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at St. Luke, 1440 N Fairfield Rd, Beavercreek, OH. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service at the church.
