Clarence B. Miller

MILLER, Clarence B., age 95 of Washington Township passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton. Clarence leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife Jane Strahler Miller; son Clarence Dale & wife Shirley Miller; daughter Beckie and husband Bernie Lucas; step-daughter Sabrina Larson; four grandchildren, Wendy & husband David Anzelc, Melissa & husband Brian Gamble, Danielle Lucas and Adam & wife Denise Lucas; and three great-grandchildren, Bradley Lucas, Savanna Lucas & Isabella Gamble. Clarence was born November 21, 1913 in Spring Hill, West VA., where he spent the first 8 years of his life. His parents moved to Zanesville, Ohio where Clarence attended Valley Elementary School and graduated from Zanesville High School. Clarence was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Zanesville, OH as a Time Keeper he then was promoted to the Conservation Office which brought him to Dayton, OH. He worked for WPAFB and later DESC from where he retired in 1973. Clarence had his own insurance agency for several years. His passionate pastime was poker playing and he was a member of the Eagles & Moose Lodges. Clarence was an avid gardener always proud of his many vegetable gardens & orchard trees. Clarence married Beulah Mae Hensley on 12 Dec. 1940, who preceded him in death in 1999, Clarence was also preceded in death by his parents Merritt Clarence & Thelma Songer Miller; two brothers, Oscar of N. Canton, OH and Ray Miller of Middletown, OH and one sister, Dorothy Parrill of Zanesville, OH. Family will greet friends from 11:00AM-1:00PM on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH with funeral service at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Entombment in Woodland Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
