Cynthia Corlew Dilgard

DILGARD, Cynthia Corlew, age 74, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her home in Oakwood. She was born on in White Bluff, TN, to the late Perry and Virginia Corlew. Cynthia graduated from Ashland City High School in TN where she was Valedictorian, the first female Student Class President, and Captain of the varsity basketball team. She received her BA from David Lipscomb College, her MA from George Peabody College, and her PhD in English from Vanderbilt University. Cynthia adored her grandchildren and enjoyed the great outdoors and nature. She held a special place in her heart for all her students over the years at David Lipscomb College in TN and Millersville State University in PA where she chaired the English Department and taught Shakespeare and Literature. Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bruce Corlew, sister Ardyce England, and daughter, Lynda Dilgard and survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann (Joe) Fulford of Oakwood; grandchildren, Virginia, Perry, and Henry; brother, Jerry Corlew; sisters, Teresa Corlew and Perrilyn Riley; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday, March 16, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd, Kettering. Visitation will follow the service until 12:00pm.
