David Pennington

David Pennington, 88, a resident of Kettering, Ohio and a former resident of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center in Kettering, Ohio. He was born September 16, 1922 at Manchester, Kentucky the son of the late James Pennington and Sally Ann Bennett Pennington. David worked for General Motors as an assembly line worker until his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Velva Pearl Smith Pennington on July 25, 1959 and she preceded him in death on October 13, 2003. David was also preceded in death by his parents, James and Sally Pennington; nine brothers, Howard, Chester, Lawrence, Virgil (Crit), Stanley, Orvel Lee, Walter, Ben Pennington and one brother in infancy; four sisters, Winnie Buttrey, Minnie Eaton, Edna Murrell and Ollie Byrley. David is survived by two children, Elizabeth Back and her husband Ramzel, Dayton, Ohio, and Karen Sue Maze and her husband Charlie, Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Maze and Scott Maze; three great grandchildren, Joshua Maze, Hunter Maze, and Dillon Maze; one sister, Ada McPhetridge, London, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm., Monday, January 31, 2011 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering, Ohio. Musical selections will include "Go Rest High on that Mountain", "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden". A visitation will be held Monday prior to the funeral service from 12;00 pm. noon until the 2:00 pm. service time at Routsong Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Miami Valley Memorial Gardens at Centerville, Ohio.
