Donald Clarke Monnier

October 12, 1927 — January 28, 2013

MONNIER, Donald C., died peacefully at his home on January 28, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Marcia Romer Monnier; three children, Camille Farmer, Lee Monnier and Matthew Monnier; and seven step-children. Born October 12, 1927, Don left a legacy of life lived fully. Although Don was President of Monnier Tool and Die, a member of the Lyons Club for 52 years, and devoted member of the Engineers Club, he will be more importantly remembered as a man who loved woodworking, was a gregarious story teller, and relished taking his grandchildren on his adored pontoon on Michigan's Walloon Lake every summer. Preceding Don in death were his parents, Camille and Mary Kathryn Monnier; brothers, Eugene and George Monnier; and his first wife, Carol Hilgeman Monnier. He leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division. Don's generosity of heart and spirit will be missed by all his family and friends. His life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering. Visitation will proceed in the Atrium of St. Charles at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to any charity of your choice.
