Donald Vernon Etz

ETZ, Donald Vernon, age 87, of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Donald was born on November 5, 1929 in Dayton to the late Clarence and Alma Etz. He graduated from Bellbrook High School in 1947 and Wilmington College in 1950. Donald served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 as a Radar Maintenance Instructor. He then went to earn his MBA from the University of Cincinnati in 1967. Donald worked for 36 years at NCR Corp. in technical publications work. He was a member of independent Churches of Christ in the Dayton area, serving as an elder for 5 years, and teaching Bible school classes for many years. Donald was also a member of the Miami Valley Astronomical Society, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and American Research Center in Egypt, and was also a past member of the Society for Technical Communication. He published several articles on astronomical, historical, business, and Biblical subjects. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Lucy A. Etz. He is survived by his children, Julie (Gary) Warwick, David (Robyn) Etz, Arthur (Mary) Etz, and Robert (Jennifer) Etz; grandchildren, Justin Warwick, Daniel Etz, Karly Etz, Kelly Etz, and Brady Etz; and nieces, Deborah (Patrick) Eveslage and Renee Bachman. A visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Church of Christ, 2755 E Stroop Rd, Kettering, OH 45440.
