Douglas Paul Moyer

Douglas Paul Moyer, 68, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away at his home on Monday, March 13, 2023 after a challenging battle with multiple myeloma. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 26, 1954 to the late Donald and Barbara (Werts) Moyer.

Doug graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He spent most of his career working in the steel industry and worked at AK Steel for 28 years. Doug enjoyed a good problem-solving situation, working with his hands outdoors and was an avid student of the Civil War. He first and foremost, loved time spent with family, especially playing fetch with his little buddy, Ozzie, a miniature Schnauzer. Doug will be greatly missed.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 5 years, Darlene Noble Moyer; children, Jennifer (James) Lainhart of Lexington, KY, Christy (Anthony) Miller of East Prairie, MO, Lisa (Theodore) Achladis of Powell, OH and Nicholas (Kaitlyn) Moyer of Wauwatosa, WI; loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Brittany Thomas, Dakota Miller, Kaitlyn Thomas, Rachel Miller, Sarah Thomas, Leonidas Achladis and Elias Achladis; great-grandfather to Cayde Ferguson; and brother to his sister, Deborah Reid of Dayton, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear wife of 38 years, Judith L. Moyer; and special niece, Sylvia Kunkleman-Hamlin.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Wappner Funeral Directors – Ontario, 100 Lexington-Springmill Rd. S., Ontario, Ohio 44906. Guests are invited to participate in family prayers beginning at 6:30 p.m. Additional calling hours will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 Stroop Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45429. A service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Battlefield Trust.
