Douglas Steven Smith

SMITH, Douglas Steven, age 65, of Springboro, OH died peacefully in his home of 37 years with his beloved wife by his side on February 26. 2013. Doug was born on August 5, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio to parents Walter and Pat Smith and loving grandparents, Nellie and Steve Boksza. Doug was a 1965 graduate of Northmont High School and ran two successful businesses, Doug Smith Inc. and D.S.I. Parts. He took pride in raising two daughters, Sydney and Hannah Smith, and loved spending time with his grandson, Brandon. Doug was a compassionate person who believed that working hard and caring for your family always came first. Doug was a 32 degree Mason and was always the first to volunteer to help anyone. Doug helped start an elementary school that his daughters attended and spent many hours in his retirement helping friends and spending time with his wife. Doug's many hobbies included working on old cars and fishing in the Michigan trout steam he loved so much. Doug is survived by his wife and best friend of 47 years, Judy; his two daughters, Sydney and Hannah Smith; grandson, Brandon ( fiance Jennifer); mother, Pat Smith; siblings, Marc Smith (wife Mary), Vicki Smith, Steve Smith (wife Jane); nieces, nephews and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Scott; daughter, Amy Gillespie (nee Smith); father, Walter Smith; and grandparents, Nellie and Steve Boksza. Family will greet friends from 10:00am-12:00pm on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral services will start at 12:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately following the service at Centerville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 or a favorite charity in honor of Doug.
