Florence M. Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Florence M., 81, of Dayton, passed away at Heartland of Centerville on Sunday, October 12, 2008 after a six year battle with Alzheimer's. Florence was a 1944 graduate of Roosevelt H. S., a member of Belmont United Methodist Church and the Young At Heart Group. Florence was an avid vegetable gardener and loved working in her flowers beds. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herschel and Lulu Shaffer, stepmother, Ethel Shaffer and grandson, Brad Schmidt. Florence is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Irvin "Bud" H. Schmidt II; sons, Irvin H. (Connie) Schmidt III, Rick L. (Debbie) Schmidt; daughter, Diana (Rick) York; brother, Herschel Shaffer; sister, Marguerite Beam; very special high school friend, Helen Clark; 7 grandchildren, Tod, Kelly, Mike, Jeff, Beth, Clark and Lauren and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, October 15, 2008 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH 45429 with Rev. Kevin White officiating. Florence's family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00PM also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Belmont United Methodist Church, 2701 S. Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH 45420.
