Frances Marie Evans

EVANS, Frances M., age 84 of Kettering, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by family on her birthday, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. Born in Warren, OH on November 19, 1928, she was the youngest of Nelson and Marie Thompson's 10 children. Fran was a graduate of the Akron City Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an RN at Akron's Children's Hospital then at Akron City Hospital where she later retired. Fran was an accomplished pianist and loved nature, birds, and gardening. She was a loving mother and passed on her love of nature and music to her children and grandchildren. Fran and her husband of 62 years, Tom Evans of Kettering, loved to travel and enjoyed many trips together. They were avid bridge players and were members of several bridge clubs. She was a good friend to all who knew her. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 6 brothers. Fran is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Evans of Kettering; son, Thomas Evans of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; daughters, Donna (Bob) Yeager of Raleigh, NC, Diane Evans (Paul) Gallagher of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, and Ellen (Ken) Soellner of Kettering; grandchildren, Kelly (Daniel) Richardson, Katie (Patrick) Williams, and Kaylee, Rachel, and Karen Soellner; sister, Alice Slagle; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Family will greet friends following the service until 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington, Ave., Dayton, OH, 45420. The family would like to send a special thank-you to the staff at Hospice of Dayton for their care and compassion.
