Fred August Raack

July 9, 1944 — May 5, 2022

RAACK, Fred August, 77 of Moraine died at the Oakes of West Kettering on May 5. He was born and raised Akron, Ohio where he graduated from Central HS and attended the University of Akron. He also lived in Wadsworth Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents Karl and Hazel Raack, siblings Wayne Sivert, Karl Raack Jr and Caroline Parker. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine, along with daughters Rebecca Raack Balaj MD, Jennifer Raack Myers MD (Christopher), Patricia Raack Baker and grandchildren Alec, Will and Stephen Myers, Anna Baker and Tommy and Rachel Balaj.

Fred’s lifelong vocation was in Manufacturing Management and he worked for Goodyear, Parker Hannifin, Diversified Insulation, Chick Master Incubator Company and Green Tokai. Fred was not only a loving but cantankerous husband and father of 3 equally cantankerous and opinionated daughters but a doting grandfather of 6. He was a lover of all dogs especially his pugs. If you knew Fred, you either loved him or hated him. There was no middle ground with the man. He was famous for his "Fred-isms", and those who had the pleasure of knowing or working for him can probably recite some. He was an incredibly hard worker. He never said no to someone in need of a helping hand or in need of a job. He was also the original practical joker with his antics legendary. No one was ever safe from his machinations including every pastor at our church. He was a man of faith, quiet in his devotion-always working behind the scenes doing what he was able with his talents and abilities for those around him. He was an active member of Wadsworth First Assembly of God for many years. Fred loved to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing, swimming or just sitting in the sun enjoying a cigar and a cold one. Even though he had many medical problems he managed to work hard, travel the world and take care of his family through incredible pain. He was stubborn as a mule, but resilient as anyone you could ever meet. He will be missed by all those who loved him.

Visitation/Reception along with a sendoff to Fred will be from 5-7pm Thursday May 12 at Routsong Funeral Home, Kettering.
