Gary Paul Gordon

GORDON, Gary Paul, age 84, of Kettering, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. Gary was born on November 3, 1938 to Paul and Geraldine (Stuckey) Gordon in Columbus, OH. He graduated from East High School in 1955, consequently enlisting in the US Navy. Upon completion of his military service,   Gary attended The Ohio State University, earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Science. Gary moved his family to Kettering in 1974 to begin his long and illustrious career at Wright-Patterson AFB, where he eventually achieved the position of Chief, GR Avionics Branch.

Gary travelled extensively for both business and pleasure. He particularly enjoyed practicing his German in Bavaria, and tracing the Clan Gordon roots in Scotland. He was also interested in history, especially World War II, and the evolution of military aircraft, having participated in the development of many planes' systems through his work at WPAFB.

He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football team, never missing the opportunity to cheer on the Bucks! He was also a great lover of animals, and always had a pet or 2 in the house. (And a few feathered friends outside his window to feed!)

Gary was preceded in death by both his parents; son, David Paul Gordon; sister Barbara Aller; wife, J. Lea Gordon, and his beloved dog, Dakota.

He leaves behind his children, Melissa Gordon and Michael (Michele) Gordon; grandchildren, Laurana and Logan Gordon; dear brother, Phillip R. (Kathy) Gordon; and many beloved friends who were so kind, generous, and helpful to him during his difficult years.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm, on Friday, January 27, 2023, at David’s Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Humane Society of Dayton or the charity of your choice.
