Gene 'Smitty' Edward Smith

SMITH, Gene E. 'Smitty', age 78, left this life to meet the Lord on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. 'Smitty' fought a long, courageous, and valiant battle against Multiple Sclerosis. He graduated from Chaminade High School in 1950, was a long time employee of Dayton Power and Light, and enjoyed carpentry, fishing, playing cards and helping friends. 'Smitty' was a loving father and husband, and a generous man. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Anna Smith. 'Smitty' is survived by his loving wife Doris, of 50 yrs; daughters Amy (Tom) Swaney, Susan (Dennis Delphenich) Smith and Colleen (Chris) Richards; son Matthew (Angela) Smith; grandchildren Madison and Patrick Swaney, Stephanie and Aidan Smith, Payton and Rylan Richards and Samuel Smith; and sister Rita (Don) Tangeman. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 3:00-5:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, December 6 at 10:30AM at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2300 Smithville Rd., Dayton. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
