Glenda E. Hime

May 9, 1930 — January 2, 2022

HIME, Glenda E., 91, of Centerville, passed away on January 2nd, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Edna Range; and her husband of 56 years, Don. She is survived by three children, David (Heather) Hime of Centerville, Shannon Cheryl Lopez of Minnesota, Debra Hime of Dayton; seven grandchildren; Andrew (Sarah) Hime of Columbus, April (Jared) Ratliff of Monroe, and Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Noel, and Joel Mix; a couple great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her close cousin, Kay Pickerill of Phoenix, AZ; and her closest, best friends – more like sisters she never had – Adah Andres of Lexington, KY and Norma Loxley of Centerville.

Glenda graduated from Stivers High School, attended Miami University, followed by graduation from Miami-Jacobs College. She worked as a secretary for about a year before marrying Don, having the kids – and subsequently became a devoted mother and homemaker. Her interests were many and varied, including playing the piano, sewing, helping a Centerville neighbor run a local taxi business, and being somewhat conversant in the Cincinnati Reds (due to her husband Don’s baseball passion) and even some football! Glenda was a long-time member of Southminster Presbyterian Church, where she served in leadership positions as a Deacon (ordained in 1981) and as president of Presbyterian Women. She was involved in (and helped organize) the Omicron and Theta Presby Groups. She also participated in Ruth circle, Elderberries, the Prayer Chain, the Care Connection ministry, and many other volunteer activities.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Routsong Funeral Home, Centerville Chapel, to be immediately followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m., Reverend Nancy Birdsong officiating. The family requests that all guests wear a mask. Glenda’s services will be livestreamed on Routsong Funeral Home’s YouTube page for those unable to attend. Interment will occur after the service at David’s Cemetery with a small, private ceremony for the family and close friends. The family would like to thank the caring support provided in her last several weeks by the staff at Hillspring of Springboro Healthcare Center & Rehabilitation; and by the compassionate nurses of Hospice of Dayton. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to be made to Hospice of Dayton.
