Harriet C. Mccarthy

MCCARTHY, Harriet C., age 78, of Kettering passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at Brighton Gardens in Centerville. She attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kettering. Harriet was born in Nashville, TN, graduated as Valedictorian from Puyallup High School near Tacoma, Washington, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1952, where she majored in Art. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Following graduation, she became a stewardess for Pan Am Airlines flying Boeing Clippers out of San Francisco throughout the South Pacific, including Honolulu, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Manila, Tokyo, Midway and Wake Island. Harriet is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Michael and Dorothy Bader Carroll and her loving husband of 53 years, Justin H. "Pat" McCarthy. She is survived by her children, Charles Michael (Anne) McCarthy of Edmond, OK; Dorothea Ellen (Michael) Riippa of Minneapolis, MN; and Jay (Leslie) McCarthy of Bellbrook; grandchildren, Jason (Emily) McCarthy, Kristina (Matt) Brown, Patricia Riippa, Lee and David McCarthy; sister, Gingie Yuckert and 2 nephews. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 12:30 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Family will receive friends Friday from 5-8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E.
