Irvin Henry Schmidt

SCHMIDT, Irvin H Jr. "Bud", age 89, of Centerville, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Leonard's Retirement Center. Bud was born on December 1, 1926 in Cincinnati, OH to Lillian and Irvin Sr. He was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church. He retired in 1988 from Dayton Tool & Die and was a WWII Navy veteran. Bud was an avid hunter, baseball player, and a grandchild's favorite grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Florence (Shaffer); son, Irvin H. III; grandson, Brad Schmidt; brother, Don Schmidt and sisters, Pat Wampler and Betty McCarthy. Bud is survived by his daughter, Diana (Rick) York; son, Rick (Debbie Hipp) Schmidt; daughter-in-law, Connie (Bertke) Schmidt; grandchildren, Tod, Kelly, Mike, Jeff, Beth, Clark, and Lauren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother's, Jerry and Fred Schmidt; sister's, Dorothy Patrick and Judy King. The family will greet friends from 9:00-10:30am with a service at 10:30am on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Burial in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belmont United Methodist Church, 2701 S. Smithville Rd., Dayton, OH 45420 or to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. Thank you to the caring and supportive personnel at St. Leonard's Memory Support.
