James A. Lewis

LEWIS, James A. “Jim”, age 69, of Miami Township, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at his home. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Gertrude Lewis and brother, U.S. Army Lt. Thomas K. Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rosemary L. Lewis: daughter, Catherine (Jeff) Harrity of Tyrone, PA: 3 sons, David (Karen) of Zanesville, OH, Robert (Kathleen) of Springboro, OH and James (Lisa) of Tuscaloosa, AL and eleven grandchildren. Jim was born in Kalamazoo, MI and received his undergraduate degree at Western Michigan University and his graduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He retired from his position of Mill Manager of Appleton’s West Carrollton Mill in 1993. Subsequently he was affiliated with the Institute of Paper Science and Technology in Atlanta, GA. Jim was a member of the Miami Township Zoning Commission, Text Review Committee, and Tax Incentive Review Council. The Board of Trustees recognized him as Miami Township Outstanding Citizen in 2001. He also served on the Cox Arboretum Foundation as a Trustee and Development Chair. Jim was also a Trustee of the Pulp and Paper Foundations at Miami University, Oxford, OH, and Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Henry Parish, 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton Tuesday, March 30 at 12:00 noon with Father Tom Shearer officiating. Burial at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton. Visitation will be at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville, OH, Monday evening from 5-8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cox Arboretum Foundation, 6733 Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH 45449. Condolences may be sent via the website at www.routsong.com.
