James "Jim" Robert Madden

MADDEN, James "Jim" R., Age 82, of Kettering, OH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2016, surrounded by his devoted family. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Dennis and Jack Madden; sister: Irene Barhoover, and grandson: Nathaniel Madden. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Pat Madden; Children: Peggy (Mark) Satzger, Dennis (Wendy) Madden, Joseph (Christy) Madden, and Kathy (Ben) McNary; grandchildren: Kristin (Mike) Blum, Rob (Emily) Satzger, Chase Madden, Kimberly and Matthew Madden, Megan and Morgan McNary; great-grandchild: Gabriella Blum; and his sister: Caroline Hall. Jim was a native of Dayton, Ohio, and he was a graduate of Chaminade High School and the University of Dayton. Jim worked for many years at Data Corp, Mead Technology and WHIO. University of Dayton was honored to have Jim as one of the founding board members of the UD Lifelong Learning Institute. Jim's life was full with many loves and interests, but his passion was spending time with his family. Cherished family times included camping and hiking in the Smoky Mountains and national parks, and annual July 4th trips to Bethany Beach, DE with the entire Madden family. Jim also enjoyed his world travels and cruises with friends and family. Nothing kept Jim from his prized University of Dayton basketball team for the past 50 years. The family would like to express our sincere thanks for the compassionate care given by The Carlyle House and Hospice of Dayton. Family will receive friends from 4:00PM - 7:00PM on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd. Kettering, OH. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to The Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Dayton.
