James M. Brabson

''Jim'', age 79 of Kettering, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001. Jim was a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII and received the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He worked for 49 years for McCrory's Five and Dime until his retirement in 1987 and managed several stores in New York, Pennsylvania, W. Virginia, Tennessee and Ohio. Jim and Anna volunteered every year with the Special Olympics in W. Virginia. Since his retirement, Jim spent many hours improving his golf game and leaves behind many beloved golfing friends. Preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Brabson; 4 sisters, Nell Lear, Hazel, Pearl and Geneva; his parents, Isaac and Laura Brabson; and a son, Billy Joe. Survived by his wife of 28 years, Anna; a son, James, Jr. (Anita) of Chicago, IL and their children, James III, Daniel, Elisabeth and Kathleen; a son, David (Dawn) of Clearwater, FL and their children, Michael and Cristina; a son, Doug (Glenna) of Kettering and their children, Brian and Chloe; a sister, Lois Layman; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday in the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with Rev. Lee Gonsior officiating. Burial in David's Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10-1:00 P.M., Tuesday in the funeral home.
