Jane S. Austin

AUSTIN, Jane S., age 94 of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at her home. Jane was born in Holland, NY. She graduated from Rockford College and from the University of Michigan. After graduation, Jane taught French and English in Holland and Corfu, NY. During the summer of 1939 she studied at Julliard and worked with Greg Maier. She married Charles Austin in 1943 and they relocated to Dayton, Ohio. Jane served as President of The Dayton Music Club, studied with George Haddad at Ohio State Univ. and was active in the Piano Teacher's Study Club. She was a member of the Ohio Music Teacher's Assoc. and a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Jane was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon for 71 years. She retired from teaching piano students in her home at the age of 89. She was a member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church of Dayton. Preceded in death by her parents, William and Annabelle Schwab; brother, Jack Schwab; husband, Charles in 1989 and her son William in 1999. Jane is survived by her sister, Carol Wilson of New York; sister-in-law, Dana Schwab of Florida; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00PM on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00AM at Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hill Ave., Kettering, OH with Rev. Dr. Robert Wade officiating. Burial to follow in David's Cemetery.
