July 13, 1922 — April 7, 2011

LINTON, Jean Lois, 88, Kettering passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Kingston of Miamisburg. Jean was born in Middleport, NY, on July 13, 1922. Preceded in death by her parents Otis S. & Florence E. [Farley] Wyman, Ridgewood, NY. Jean’s early years were spent with her parents at their Millville general store until Otis passed. Florence remarried Lester Swift in 1931. Together they managed a Middleport NY farm with his three sons: Jerry (died a hero in WW II), Lyle (deceased), and Fred of New Bern, NC. Jean graduated from Middleport HS in 1940 and attended Michigan State and Syracuse Universities. During WWII she was employed by Bell Aircraft in Buffalo. In 1945 she married Gerald R. Linton, Jr, [1921-1995] her husband for 50 years. Jean and Jerry were members of David’s United Church of Christ. As a wife and mother she will be remembered for her deep love of family, witty comments, her sense of right and her willingness to speak out. Jean and Jerry enjoyed bridge, ballroom dancing, bowling and golf (past members of Sycamore Creek CC). She studied the financial markets in great depth. Her love of bridge and sharp mind yielded continued success at duplicate games.
