LOOMIS, Jeffrey “Jeff”, age 65, departed this life on October 26, 2020 from his residence in Kettering after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mina Loomis of Cleveland, Ohio. Jeff is survived by brothers, John (Jan), Stephen, David (Jennifer), and William “Bill”; nieces, Amy Kennedy, Jackie Guerra, Melissa Loomis-Diamond and Brittney Bowman; nephews, Jeremy Loomis, Matthew “Matt” Loomis, and Jason Greene; and many great nieces and nephews.

Jeff was born September 23, 1955 in Parma, Ohio. He graduated Parma High School in 1973 and received a BA from New College of Florida in 1976. He worked on computer projects in Florida for a year, and then he moved to San Diego, California where Jeff worked at the Quantitative Morphology Lab in UCSD's School of Medicine, there's a video of some of his work at http://thyrd.org/mercurio/cv/cvmedia/qmlab.htm. He was a Software Engineer at Xerox from March 1986 to February 2002. He lived in Venice, CA from 1984 to 1992 and in Los Angeles with his brother Steve until 2005. Jeff then moved to South Webster, Ohio until 2012 when he moved to Dayton, Ohio.

Jeff was an avid "Deadhead" traveling with friends across the country to see Grateful Dead concerts throughout the 70s and 90s until Jerry Garcia’s death.

Jeff loved to travel, especially to sites of total eclipses of the sun. He also loved photography and left many albums of Grateful Dead concerts and underwater photos he took while scuba diving.

Jeff’s ashes are interred with his parents’ graves. A private family memorial service will take place later.
