Jerome 'Jerry' Xavier Cozart

COZART, Jerome X., age 70, of Centerville, who had been battling leukemia for months, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 of complications from pneumonia. Jerry was a kind, gentle and patient man who dearly loved his family, and whose life reflected his deep faith. He enjoyed golf, watching the Steelers and playing with his grandchildren. Jerry graduated from Purcell High School in 1959 and received his B.A. in education from the University of Cincinnati. He followed in his father's footsteps in the printing industry. Jerry's contributions were in teaching, technical writing and pre-press. In 1988, he became a Certified Quality Consultant and founded his own company, Quality Process Consulting (QPC). Jerry was a devoted member of St. Leonard's Faith Community, active in the Social Justice Initiatives and the Men's Ministry. He had a passion for serving others in his many community service projects. Examples include mentoring inner city youth through the YMCA's Mentors Matter Program, underprivileged family sponsorship and being awarded the President's Lifetime Service Award for his 20 years of work with Habitat for Humanity and Catch the Building Spirit. Preceded in death by his parents Roy and Mary (nee O'Conor) Cozart. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Eileen (nee Ellert); children, Kevin (Angie) Cozart, Jeni (David) Stephens, Mary Kay (Brian), Christy (Sam) Gibbs; grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Michael, Charlie, Julianna, Georgia, Mary Shea, James, Erin, John, Grant, Justin, Carlee; sisters, Denise Cozart, Charlotte (Bill) Hoeft; brother, Gregory (JoAnne); aunt, Cecelia (nee O'Connor) Grever; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to Dr. Sabiers and the staff at Miami Valley Hospital for their excellent care. Visitation will be held 2:00-4:00pm on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday, January 9 at St. Leonard's Main Chapel, 8100 Clyo Rd., Centerville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
