Jerry Schmidt

SCHMIDT, J. Gerald "Jerry" age 84 of Dayton passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born to parents, Waldemar and Hermine Schmidt, on November 15, 1928 in Dayton, OH. He was a graduate of Chaminade High School. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Organization from the University of Dayton. Jerry was an active member of the Church of the Incarnation where he was the choir director for 20+ years, Moose Lodge in Miamisburg, Golden Flyers, and former President of the Dayton Lenders Exchange. He worked for Hauer Music House, Inc. for 34+ years. Jerry, along with longtime friend Bill Schneberger, founded the Hauer Swing Band. Jerry was a great story teller and it seemed wherever he went he found an old friend to share a tale. He will be remembered for his love of family and friends, fishing, and passion for music. Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Nock) Schmidt; second wife, Suzanne (Wagner) Schmidt and great-granddaughter, Faith. Jerry is survived by children, Greg (Vickie) Schmidt of Bellbrook, Laura (Tim) Goodman of Fishers, IN, Linda (Glenn) Leonard of Knoxville, TN and Lisa (Bruce) Beauregard of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Eric, Lyndsey (Brad) , Cortney (Eric,) Kara (Jonathon), John (Lindsey), Megan (Bradley), Christine, Alec, Melissa and Lacey; great-grandchildren, Samantha, Brayden, Charlotte, Alston, Landon, Casen, Lukas, Rhys and Cate; twin brother, Norman Schmidt; sisters, Rosemary (Robert) Kanter and Barbara Ann (James) Schmitt;, numerous nephews and nieces, step children, Daniel (deceased ), Robert Jr., William, Lawrence, Annette, and Michelle Wagner. Family will receive friends from 5:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am, on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Church of the Incarnation, 7415 Far Hills Ave., Centerville, OH. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
