Jill Rosset

June 5, 1951 — April 17, 2017

ROSSET, Jill Suzanne MD. Age 65 of Dayton passed away on April 17, 2017 following a brief illness. Dr. Rosset was born on June 5, 1951. She is predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Donald Rosset and survived by her loving husband John A. Fleishman, MD, devoted daughter, Madisen Rosset Ziesemer, son-in-law Kevin Ziesemer, and sister Anne Rosset, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jill was a child prodigy who went on to graduate as Boston University's 1977 Woman Graduate of the Year earning Phi Beta Kappa (junior year). She graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1981. She took her residency in Anatomic Pathology at the University of Michigan (1981-1985). Jill was an unusually gifted Anatomic Pathologist. She trained under Dr. Henry Appleman who nicknamed her "Eagle Eye: She looks at every cell on the slide, misses nothing, and remembers everything she has ever seen." Jill worked as a Anatomic Pathologist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital of Dayton for 14 years, at Kettering Medical Center, and finished her career as Director of Pathology at the Medical Center at Elizabeth Place (MCEP) where she was a founding partner. At MCEP she practiced solo pathology for over a decade providing 24 hour turn-around on all surgical specimenssomething unheard of in today's world. Jill was an avid reader, master gardener, gifted knitter and outstanding cook. Everything came easily to her. She had a lifelong passion for the plight and culture of Native Americans. Her wide ranging talents will be sorely missed by her family and friends who are heartbroken at her premature departure. Hers was a quiet reassuring soul that always flew silently under the radar. She was incredibly loyal and always honest. Special thanks go to cousin Judy Tanis Newhouse and sister-in-law Kathleen Fleishman Honeycutt who helped Jill during her time of need. A casual sunset Celebration of Jill's Life will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Cox Arboretum between 5:30 and 8:30 pm.
