John L. Ferguson

FERGUSON, John L., age 87, of Centerville, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. He was born on January 17, 1927 in Milton, MA to the late John and Dorothy Ferguson. John earned his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1951. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and worked for Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 35 years. He was Chief of Program Support Office in the Human Resources Laboratory. John then worked at Universal Energy Systems for 4 years until his retirement. John was involved with the Kettering Sister City Organization, The Clan Fergusson Society of North America, a member of the American Legion Post #598, and volunteered for the Kettering Moraine Museum and Historical Society. He loved to travel and spend time with his family. John will be remembered by all who knew him as a very honest and caring man, who was a people person. He is preceded in death by his brother, Charles K. Ferguson; brother-in-law, Ed Hank; and nephew, Eddie. John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn; sons, John of Centerville, Brian of Houston, TX, and Stuart of Port St Lucie, FL; granddaughters, Suzanne, Melissa, Victoria, and Kelsey; sister, Joan Hank of Paducah, KY; sister-in-law; Carol (Bud) Fetter; former sister-in-law, Helen Ferguson; nephews and nieces, James, Charles, Gem-en, Susan, and Randy. The family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. A funeral will be held the following morning at 11:00am also at the funeral home.
