Kenneth Gerald Purvis

PURVIS, Kenneth Gerald, born in Holden, Louisiana, May 28, 1934 stepped from life to life eternal Thursday morning, December 11, 2014, at Life Care Hospital in Miamisburg. Ken, also known as Gerald, was preceded in death by his parents, Ilois and Ruth, and siblings Carleen, Chester, Janie, Gwen, Butch and Mike. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanette, sister Jo Ann Karpf and husband Chuck, sisters-in-laws Nola and Betty, son Dwayne and wife Denise, son Brian and wife Vicki, son Tim and wife Jill, grandchildren Elizabeth (husband Chris) Sullivan, Jason Purvis, Paul Humphrey, Drew Purvis, Nicole Purvis, Grant Purvis, Aaron Purvis, Ella Purvis, Micah Purvis, and thirty nieces and nephews. Ken served 4 years in the Air Force, is a Korean War Veteran, and continued to serve his country, working as a civilian Electrical Engineer for the US Air Force, and retired at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Ken was a member at Morningstar Baptist Church in Centerville and has served as deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, RA leader and other capacities. Family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. A funeral service will at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Morningstar Baptist Church, 208 Nutt Rd., Dayton, OH 45458. Interment will be held at David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Morningstar Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Life Care Hospital for their care and compassion.
