Landus Owen Freels

FREELS, Landus Owen, age 78, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010. Landus served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He met his wife Gracie (nee Combs) after the military and later retired from General Motors after 33 yrs. of service. He was a life member of VFW #6560 and Amvets #24, a member of VFW #9936, American Legion #746 and a lifetime member of the Dayton Cardinals Motorcycle Club. He is preceded in death by great-granddaughter Lacie Johnson. Landus is survived by daughter Robin (Kenny) Newsome of Miamisburg; 5 grandchildren Benneal Wombles, Matt Newsome, Wayne Johnson, Jenna Newsome, Jessica Newsome; 3 great-grandchildren Savannah and Gracie Johnson and Nathan Wombles; sister Bertie Terry; brother Orville Freels; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 1:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Family will greet friends 1 hour prior to service also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. In honor of Landus, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton OH 45420.
