Lillian Gertrude Mills

MILLS, Lillian G., age 93, of Centerville passed away, Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Bethany Village. The daughter of John and Gertrude Bengson, she was born in Toledo, OH where she lived until 1946 when her marriage to Richard Mills of Richmond Hill, NY took her to the New York City area. She resided in Glen Head, Long Island until 1988 when she moved to her present residence in Bethany Village. Mrs. Mills was employed by Dun and Bradstreet, Inc. at the Toledo District Office and then at the New York City Executive Office from 1938 to 1950, and the Lutheran Council in the USA (NYC) from 1968 until her retirement in 1984. She served in the WAAC/WAC from 1942 until 1945, first at the Training Center at Fort Des Moines, Iowa and then overseas with General Omar Bradley's 12th Army Group Headquarters Special Troops in England, France and Germany. Mrs. Mills was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1937, the Women's Army Corps Veterans Association, and Epiphany Lutheran Church in Centerville. She is survived by 3 nephews; John C. Bengson of Bellbrook, Rev. Glen A. Bengson of Xenia and Charles A. Riley of Toledo. Memorial services will be held at 11 am Wednesday May 21, 2008 at Epiphany Lutheran Church 6430 Far Hills Ave. Centerville, OH officiated by Pastor Fritz Wiese. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment in the Dayton V.A. Cemetery.
