Lola Jolley Simpson

SIMPSON, Lola Jolley, age 83, of Kettering passed away, Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Kettering Medical Center. Lola graduated from Ottawa High School, and then entered St. Luke’s Nursing School in Kansas City, MO. She was the school nurse in Forest Hills Schools in Cincinnati for 17 years. Lola was a member of St. Timothy Episcopal Church in Anderson Township, the Teachers Association and St. Luke’s Alumni Association. Lola was born January 17, 1920 to Bertha Mae and Thomas Franklin Dorsey in Houston, MO. She was the sixth of nine children. After the death of her mother, she was adopted by Mr. & Mrs. C. E. Sands, Ottawa, KS. Preceded in death by her first husband, William P. Jolley in 1976, her second husband, Charles E. Simpson, and 6 siblings, Edward, Perry, Ralph Lloyd and Paul Dorsey and Mildred Broadbent.Survived by her children, Linda West, William Jolley, Michael Jolley; 3 grandchildren, Lisa Winston, Lesley Phibbs and Melissa Reynolds; 5 great grandchildren, Kylie, Justin, Abigail, Ian and Lindsey; sister, Mary Lou Shannon; brother, David Woods and good friend Mindy Doener. Lola loved being with and doing things for her children and grandchildren. She was a great source of inspiration. Family will receive friends 5-7:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering with funeral services to follow at 7:00 PM with Pastor. Clyde O. Waites officiating. Inurnment in Shiloh Cemetery in Dayton.
