M. Maureen Murphy

MURPHY, M. Maureen, age 74, of Dayton, OH, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015. Maureen was born on September 7, 1940 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Robert T. and Cecile H. (nee Hawkins) Hocter. Maureen was a Registered Nurse, a calling inevitable for her. In 1962 she graduated from a 3-year program at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. She advanced her training and education by earning a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Social Work from Antioch College. Maureen truly lived a life of service, of both joyful and wearying service to her patients, her family and friends, and to her Lord. She is preceded by her daughter, Allison Anne Murphy and two brothers. Maureen is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Dr. Gordon Murphy; sons, Kris (Maureen) Murphy of Chicago, IL and Jonathan Murphy of Oakwood, OH; grandchildren, Jack, Matthew, Christopher and Catherine; and sister, Patricia Rooks of Oklahoma City. Her final illness and complications thereof lasted for three months, during which she was always courageous and patient. Maureen's mental and spiritual will to live remained unbroken, but her physical resources were eventually depleted. She is at rest. God is love. Family will greet friends from 7:00-9:00pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St. Centerville, OH. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave. Dayton, OH.
