Maria Asiza Taldo

TALDO, Maria A., age 46, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021. Maria was born January 15, 1974 in Angeles City, Philippines. Raised in a military family and living at both San Antonio TX and Clark AFB Philippines, her final roots were in Ohio.

After graduating from high school, Maria proudly attended and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in finance. Her intellect and diligence was evident in her work, including American Family Insurance from 1998 to 2006 as a Product design consultant. In 2006 she started working for Mapfre Insurance as a Senior Product Manager and later as a Director, product management in 2018.

Maria had an adventurous and outgoing spirit, and enjoyed traveling immensely. She was a food connoisseur who loved to cook and find the best restaurants wherever she went. She had a creative eye for art, interior decorating and floral arrangements. Maria’s favorite moments were spent with the people she loved and cared for. She spent time with friends biking around the city, frequenting different restaurants and happy hour. Cooking soup for her friends when they were sick was one of many examples of her maternal nature. She also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald house where she served dinner to families of sick children. Although Maria was able to travel to some incredible destinations she had a bucket list full of places to visit and explore. Living by the motto that the best things in life are experiences, not things. She wanted to instill this with her nephews she loved so much. Spending time with family was frequent and always consisted of good food and infectious laughs.

She is survived by her mother, Mardonia Jones, her father Dennis Jones, brother Rory Jones (spouse Ashley Jones and son Finnegan Jones) and sister Brittany Braden (spouse Aaron Braden sons Maddox and Calvin Braden).

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, January 23 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429, with a visitation to follow from 1:00pm-3:00pm at the funeral home.

For those unable to attend in person a livestream of the service will be available to view via Routsong’s YouTube channel.
