Mary Alice Billow

BILLOW, Mary Alice (Riggs), age 87, of Dayton, OH, passed away Sunday, October 23rd in Tucson, AZ. She was a graduate of Bexley High School in 1947 and received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Capital University in 1951. At Capital, Mary Alice held student leadership positions and was elected May Queen in 1950. Mary Alice started her career as an elementary school teacher, later putting it aside to be a wonderful full time mom, supporting her children and husband in their various activities. She also served as Cub Scout and Girl Scout troop leader, radio commentator for a classical music program, and as a volunteer leader for several charity organizations. She was a devout Christian, actively participating in several Lutheran congregations, currently Epiphany Lutheran in Dayton and Resurrection Lutheran in Oro Valley, AZ, singing in the choir and serving as Sunday School teacher and children's choir director. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Marvin Billow; daughter, Debra Krajec and husband David; son, Donald and his wife, Nora; 2 grandsons, Jeremy and Kyle, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her son, Douglas. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, November 4th 2016 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6430 Far Hills Ave, Dayton, OH with Rev. Charles Woodward and Rev. Jay Shailer, officiating. Burial will follow the service in David's Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Road, Kettering, OH. The family would like to express thanks for the wonderful care given by Casa de la Luz Hospice in Tucson, AZ.
