Mary Ann Funkhouser

FUNKHOUSER, Mary Ann, age 81, of Kettering passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a selfless, gentle hearted, compassionate, courageous, intelligent and humorous soul. She loved pets, writing poetry, and all of natures wonders. Mary was a graduate of Stivers High School in 1948 and worked for Frigidaire for several years. She was a lifetime member and dedicated volunteer at Hope Lutheran Church where she participated in the church choir as a frequent soloist and served on altar guild. She was also a member of the Physician Wives Women’s Medical Auxiliary and was a supporter for Cancer prevention. Preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Bunnell; son, Steven Funkhouser; and her sisters, Charlotte Dooley and Martha Bremer. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. James W. Funkhouser; son, Jeff (Debra) Funkhouser of Waynesville, OH; daughters, Cindy (Greg) Rose of Wooster, OH and their son Danny and Judy Funkhouser of Oakwood, OH and her children Steven and JoNell; brother-in-law, Charles “Pete” Bremer; and many other nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed dearly and her memories will always be in our hearts. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church, 500 Hickory St., Dayton, OH 45410 with Pastor John Johansen officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. A second service will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church at 301 N. Market St., Wooster, OH.
