Mary E. Kaufman

KAUFMAN, Mary E., age 91, formerly of Kettering and Troy Ohio, passed away November 26 at Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community. Mary was born in Piqua Ohio, a resident of Troy until 1964 when the family moved to Kettering Ohio. Mary was a graduate of Troy High School. Mary was primarily a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends as well as church activities, decorating, sewing and crafts. Mary worked in the Registrar's Office at Sinclair Community College, volunteered at the American Red Cross and Kettering Medical Center gift shop and was a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church, Kettering and First Methodist Church, Troy. Preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Bertha Kessler; husband, John Kaufman; and brother Robert Kessler. She is survived by her children Sarah Michael and husband Chuck (deceased) of Centerville, and James Kaufman and wife Patricia of Pueblo Colorado; granddaughters Cindy Michael, Kristin Shafer, Jennifer Wenrick and Jill Hawley and great-grandchildren Maxwell and Marah Shafer; Katherine, Charlotte and Colin Wenrick; Alice, Owen and Paige Hawley; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on December 9 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Family will greet friends after the service until 5 PM. There will be NO burial service. Mary will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens next to her husband John. Special thanks to the staff on the Hill Floor of the Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community, and to attending staff of Crossroads Hospice that lovingly took care of Mary.
