Michael Paul Waker

WAKER, Michael P., age 73, of Dayton, passed away on March 29, 2021. Michael was born on May 12, 1947 to the late Paul and Phyllis (Wilson) Waker, in Dayton, OH.

He was in the first class to graduate from Carroll High School in 1965, and was a talented football and basketball player. Following High School, Michael received a full scholarship to play football at the University of Dayton. After graduating with his B.A in Economics, he enlisted in the Navy. Michael served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid and traveled all over the world. He continued his career with the government as a Civil Servant performing cost estimates on aircraft at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Naturally he was a lifelong fan of all things UD, and was a UD Flyers basketball season ticket holder for many years. Michael enjoyed golfing, fishing, cycling, and anything that meant he could spend time outdoors. He was a member of the Milton Athletic Club and participated in escorting other veterans to their respective war memorials in Washington D.C. through his service in Honor Flight.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by children, Jennifer (Charles) Camphausen, Elizabeth (Murphy) LaSelle; grandchildren, Anna and Owen Camphausen, and Colin and Brady LaSelle; sisters, Susan (Robert) Brockman, Loren (Mark) Rush; niece, Kristen Maynard; nephews, Matthew and Michael Brockman as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Family will greet visitors 5-7PM on Tuesday, April 6 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E STROOP RD, KETTERING. Private interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
