Michael William Klenk

KLENK, Michael William age 20 of Kettering lost his 20 year battle with Cystic Fibrosis on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering. He was a 2006 graduate of Fairmont High School and attended Miami University in Oxford. Michael was a member of the Fairmont football and baseball teams and received his varsity lettered in both. Fairmont football coaches honored him by establishing the "Michael William Klenk Award". This award honors the recipient who shows the characteristics of "Selflessness, Loyalty, Dedication & Commitment" to Fairmont Football. He started his football & baseball with the FKAL and was also a member of the KABC baseball traveling team, better known as the "Dream Team." Michael is survived by his parents, Susan and Ron Klenk; sister, Erin Klenk of Cincinnati and her close friend Jared Molden; brother, Robert Klenk of Ashland, OH; grandmother, Bernice L. Klenk of Kettering and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a lot of great friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Dayton Children's Medical Center and Barnes-Jewish Hospital for their love, care and compassion they showed to all the family, Thank You. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at James S. Trent Arena at Fairmont High School, 3301 Shroyer Rd., Kettering at 10:00 AM with Rev. Barry DeShetler officiating. Burial in David's Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3-8:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Michael's name to Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, Ohio 45429.
