Norman Paraskevas Dimitrouleas

March 2, 1982 — January 9, 2016

DIMITROULEAS, Norman Paraskevas, age 33, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 9, 2016. Born to George Dimitrouleas and LaVerne Brassfield on March 2, 1982, Norman was raised in Dayton with brothers Dino and Nickolas but traveled frequently to his family's village in Stoupa, Kalamata, Greece. As a young child, Norman overcame the physical difficulties of cerebral palsy by playing piano, and after graduating from Centerville High School, music quickly became his life's work. With brother Dino, Norman formed the popular local band The Maji, and later went on to play keyboards for the internationally known group The Werks. He produced music and hosted large local music festivals including The Harvest Jam and The Werk Out. Norman used his talent to raise money for various Dayton-area charities, including T.J.'s Place of Hope. In a recent tribute, Norman's brother Dino described him as "one of the kindest humans" he had ever known. He consistently put others before himself, and was loved by all who knew him many were proud to call him "brother". Norman is preceded in death by his grandmother, Katina Dimitrouleas; grandfather, Konstantinos Dimitrouleas; and grandmother Clara Brassfield. He is survived by his mother, LaVerne Brassfield; father, George Dimitrouleas; partner, Sarah Palmer; daughter, Paras Olivia Dimitrouleas; son, George Emerson Dimitrouleas; brothers, Dino (Elesha Snyder) Dimitrouleas and Nickolas Dimitrouleas; grandfather, Norman Brassfield; and scores of family, friends, musicians and fans. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm, on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with a funeral service starting at 7:00pm at the Funeral Home. A celebration with music, food and drinks will take place following the service at Canal Public House, 308 E. First St., Dayton.
