Otherlia Hall

HALL, Otherlia Powell, was born to the late James and Blanche Powell on July 1, 1940 in Somerville, Tennessee. Otherlia (Sista) moved to Dayton, Ohio 50 years ago with the love of her life, the late Ulysses “Sonny” Hall where she departed this life on January 11, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton.

Otherlia accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Somerville, Tennessee. Once in Dayton, Ohio she became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and later a member of Omega Baptist Church. During her membership at Omega she was a devoted usher and choir member. She was also a faithful employee of General Motors, retiring in 1992. Sista loved to sew, travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved everyone and would always greet you with a smile and so much love.

Family members awaiting her arrival include: her husband Ulysses “Sonny” Hall; daughter, Rosalind Hall; siblings: Estella, Theaphelus, James Henry, Primes, Pauline, Ralph, Earnestine, Ruth Ida, Annie B., Calvin, John Robert and McCray Powell.

The memory of Otherlia Powell-Hall will be cherished by her loving children, Regina Hall and Ulysses “Meon” (Sonya) Hall; 2 grandsons, Jordan Hall and Zaire Hall; 2 granddaughters, Sha’kiera Hall and Kamarriah Hall; 1 great-grandson, Brysen Hall, all of Dayton, Ohio. Her sister, Rosie Lee Jones of Memphis, Tennessee; goddaughter, Jalane (Darryl) Cheatham; best friends, Jill (John) Stargill and Bernice Young; special nieces; Cornelia “Glo” Jenkins and Velinda Rashad; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
