Rinaldo Di Salvo

Di SALVO, Rinaldo “Papa”, age 84, of Kettering, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Papa was born in Italy on November 19, 1935. He worked as a Butcher for NCR and retired in 1979. Papa was one of the founders of Mamma Di Salvo’s Restaurant and retired from there in 2016. He was a devote Catholic who loved his flowering garden and sitting on the beach in Siesta Key, FL. Rinaldo enjoyed cooking and grilling out for his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fiorangelo; mother, Ermina; son, Nicholas; sister, Ergisa; brothers-in-law, Corrado, Tony Berardi and Pasquale Di Salvo; in-laws, Bambina Berardo, Pasquale Berardo, and Giuseppe Filemano Manzo.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years Elena; sons, Rinaldo and his wife, Mindy, Roberto and his wife, Shari; grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Ronnie, Jr., Gina, Vincenzo, Abigail; brothers-in-law, Joe (Maria) Berardo and their children, Fred (Donna) Berardo and their children; sisters-in-law, Gina Berardi and her family, Maria Di Salvo and her family; nephew, Tony Ricciuto and his family; niece, Sylvana Klimaski and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30am on Tuesday, February 18 at St. Charles Borromeo, 4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering. Family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10am. Burial in David’s Cemetery.

A special thank you to Zio Savino and Zia Lucia who raised Papa after his father died when he was a little boy and Elisa Antonetta Di Salvo Ricciuto and Angelo Ricciuto and the Virgillio Family who were all very influential in Papa’s early life.

The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Tytko and the staff at Kettering Medical Center for their excellent care of Papa.
