Robert A. "Bob" Lowden

October 15, 1931 — September 1, 2019

Lowden, Robert A. “Bob” age 87, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2019.

Bob was a graduate of Miamisburg High School and of the University of Dayton. He also received his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

In his professional life, Bob was an entrepreneur who founded and operated several businesses including Lowden Paint and Decorating, Tri State Platform Tennis and, most recently, Golf on Tour.

Bob had a passion for golf and played on the UD Golf team and was a long time member of Moraine Country Club. His love of the game took him to play at top rated golf courses in the US and around the world.

Over the years, Bob also contributed to his community with volunteer service ranging from youth soccer coach, Alter High School Boosters (Alter Fun Fest Inaugural Committee), Hipple Cancer Research Center, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley and serving on the Miamisburg Mound Development Corporation Board of Directors.

Bob was married to Barbara, his soul mate and “light of his life”, for over 60 years and they loved to spend time with family and friends. During their time living out in the country, the Lowden Fourth of July parties were legendary and Bob’s fireworks displays are remembered to this day. Bob was an avid UD Flyers fan and a long time season ticket holder, his red sweatshirt was a staple on every game day. He also enjoyed camaraderie with his fellow “49ers”, the residents and staff of 10 Wilmington Place and his life long friends including “The Gang”.

Bob had an imagination, sense of humor and a sense of fun that was appreciated by all but especially by grandchildren and great grandchildren – he was truly their “PaBob”. PaBob loved stirring up commotion with the tell tale chant “Nana Nana BOO” as he chased squealing grandchildren through the house. His love of rhyming words was also a favorite game. He also cherished his time with the preschool children of Lincoln Academy and they loved their weekly reading time with “Mr. Bob”.

Preceded in death by his wife Barbara “Darling”; mother and father, Gordon A. and Naomi I. Lowden, his sister Ann Lowden Fritts. Survived by: his children Kevin (Myra) Lowden, Kimberly Muncy, Amy (John) Saletta, John (Brooke) Lowden, and his brother, Richard Lowden. His particular pride and joy were his 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren: Tricia Weithofer (Mark) and their children Abby and Charlie; Melissa Naser (Thomas), and their children Tommy, Emma, Max and Ella; Katie Kirk (Dustin) and their son Cohen; Gordon and Maggie Lowden; Alyson (Kevin) Jack their son J.
