Robert Frank Jefferis, Jr.

JEFFERIS, Robert Frank Jr. passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at University of Cincinnati Hospital. Bob was born on January 6, 1957 in Dayton as the second of five children to Betsie and Robert Jefferis. Growing up in the 60s and 70s, Bob had a happy childhood playing little league baseball and being a Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Browns fan. As the oldest of four boys, Bob taught his brothers a lot of important lessons in life. It was he who helped his brothers learn how to ride a bike, deliver a newspaper route and play sports or even give the dog a bath. In the summers, when he was a high schooler, Bob would frequently take his brothers on sailing expeditions to Housten Woods, Cowan Lake, trips to Reds games and Kings Island. At Oakwood High School Bob earned a varisity "O" as a wrestler. As a freshman at Hanover College, Bob became a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hanover. He also enjoyed working as a counselor for a few summers at the Culver Woodcraft camp. Bob later served four years in the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Specialist in Europe during the Cold War 1980's. He should be remembered by all as a generous warm-hearted person with a sense of humor. He was always loyal to his family and friends. Bob struggles no more. He is now free to fly high above us. He is preceded in death by his mother Betsie Jefferis in 1997 and his father Robert Jefferis Sr., in 2009. He is survived by his sister Jeanne Jefferis of Franklin, OH.; brother Steve (Kari) Jefferis of Ft. Wayne, IN.; brother Mick Jefferis of Naples, FL.,; and brother Joseph Jefferis of Dayton. Visitation will be Friday, February 12, 2010 from noon until-2:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Graveside services will follow at 3:00PM at Dayton National Cemetery, 4100 West 3rd Street, Dayton. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.routsong.com.
