Robert W. Buxton

BUXTON, Robert W., age 99, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Monday, December, 26, 2022. Robert (Bob) was born on December 22, 1923 to the late Howard and Florence (Wood) Buxton, in Evanston, IL. His family including his parents and younger brother Jim, moved around quite a bit during his childhood (due to his fathers work as a Methodist minister). They resided in Lincoln, NE, (where he attended high school), Chicago, IL, and Dixon, IL. Following his graduation he earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska, in Lincoln, before serving in the U. S. Army. Once Bob completed his service, he moved to the Dayton area where he began his career at Wright-Patterson AFB as an Electrical Engineer. While working at Wright-Patt, Bob met and married his wife, Wilma, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years. Throughout his life Bob liked to stay active, whether it was enjoying his favorite sport, tennis, walking through his neighborhood, or bowling with his friends. He was a lifelong Huskers fan and would rarely miss an opportunity to watch a football game. Bob enjoyed following and studying the stock market, and was diligent about reading the Wall Street Journal daily. He was also a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church, following the example of his father. Most of all, Bob’s family is grateful to him for the care he provided to Wilma for seventeen years following her stroke.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wilma; and brother; Jim Buxton.

He is survived by his children, Cathy (Jim) Dunford, Nancy Brady, William Buxton, and Dianne (Jim Fee) Glynn; grandchildren, Matt (Teresa Wilkerson) Dunford, Jessica Buxton, Katie (Brandon) Yake, Jacob (Andrea Pastor) Glynn, Chris Glynn, and Drew Glynn; great-grandson, Jimmy Dunford; and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers who made it possible for Bob to stay at home. A private family graveside service will be held at David’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ United Methodist Church in Bob’s name.
