Roy F. Kellerman

KELLERMAN, Roy F., age 75, of Beavercreek, OH, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020.

Roy was born August 31, 1945 in Louisville, KY to Clarence and Mildred (Kaelin) Kellerman. After graduating from Trinity High School, he attended Bellarmine University, later in his professional career earning his master’s degree from Western Michigan University. Roy proudly served in the Army after college having been deployed to both Vietnam and South Korea. He continued his service for 40 plus years in civil employment as a budget analyst at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Roy was a member of VFW Post 8312 Honor Guard.

He was an active parishioner of Ascension Catholic Church for over 50 years where he had established a true love for the school and all the people associated with the church. He was a staunch advocate for CYO athletics at Ascension along with a devotion for all aspects of Carroll High School.

Roy had a passion for coaching which could not be more evident in his 40 years of leading the Ascension men’s softball team where he developed lifelong friendships and a sense of family with so many. Roy’s love of sports was evident with his devotion for the Cincinnati Reds, Dayton Dragons, UD basketball, and football teams at Carroll High School and Trinity High School.

But, most of all he was a kind and generous person who never met a stranger; a beloved husband, dad, PaPa, brother, and coach/mentor. We are comforted knowing that Roy is “rounding third and heading for home” with his Savior and his brothers he so dearly missed.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, George, Don, Ken, and Ralph. He is survived by the love of his life for 50 years, Sin Cha; sons, Rick (Jenn) and Jeff (Kristin); grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, Michael, and Pearce; brother, Bob; and numerous extended family and friends.

Family will greet friends Wednesday, November 11 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 12 at 11:00am at Ascension Catholic Church, 2025 Woodman Dr., Kettering. A live stream of the service will be available to watch at Ascension’s website. Burial will follow right after the mass in Dayton National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Trauma ICU and Neurology ICU at Miami Valley Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.
