Roy "Ol' Roy G" Adams

ADAMS, Roy G., “ol’ Roy G”, of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Roy was born on September 1, 1927 to Ben and Ida Caldwell Adams in Salyersville, Kentucky. Roy spent some time in Wenatchee, Washington, when his family moved there to work in the apple orchards. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his spouse of 67 years, Edith Williams Adams; brother, Jim Adams and sister, Dora Fletcher; nephews, Jerry Adams and Freddy Fletcher.

He is survived by two daughters, Linda (David) Brooks of Florida and Shirley Barnett; 4 grandchildren, Deandra (Marshall) Brooks, Dawn Macleod, Paul (Angi) Barnett and Amanda Seiber; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Anne Steele; brother-in-law, Donald Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Roy was a WWII era Navy veteran. Following discharge from the Navy, he worked at Frigidaire in Dayton, Ohio, for 14 years. During that time, Roy began a five-year part-time electrical apprenticeship and left Frigidaire to begin his own business.

Roy was an electrical contractor for forty years, a well-respected member of the construction industry for 60 years. He grew his company from a small residential service business to a multi- dimensional electric service provider. He handled large commercial, residential, and infrastructure construction endeavors. Roy received significant recognition for his high-quality service delivery. He was recognized nation-wide for his electrical code expertise. Roy served 20 years on the State of Ohio Electrical Contractor Licensing Board.

Roy was an active member of the Beavercreek Masonic Lodge for 60 years. He was an avid hunter of both small and large game, having hunted in many states and Canada. He enjoyed trap shooting in the off-season. And Roy enjoyed attending or watching NASCAR.

During his 94 years, Roy crossed many paths and enjoyed his life.

The celebration of Roy’s life will be held on October 24, 2021, at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH, at 1pm with Dr. Randall Steele officiating. Viewing and fellowship will follow the service.

A live stream will be available to view on Routsong Funeral Home’s channel on www.YouTube.com for those unable to attend.

Burial will be at the Muhlenberg Township Cemetery in Darbyville, OH, at noon on October 25, 2021.
