CROCKETT, Russell E., age 95, of Centerville, died November 20, 2013. Born May 4, 1918, Russell graduated from Houlton Main High School in 1935 and the University of Maine in 1940, member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He served in WWII in the Army and was a 1st Lt. Tank platoon leader with 34th Tank Battalion, Pattons 5th armored division, and was awarded 5 battle stars the Purple Heart and Bronze Star "V". He was employed for 11 years at Republic Steel Corp. and retired from Rubicon Cadillac Inc. in 1985. Russell volunteered at St. Leonards, the Air Force Museum and Centerville Police Dept. and was a member of American Legion Post 598. Preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy, and cousin, Nancy. Survived by son, David (Trish) Crockett of OR; grandchildren, Morgan and Sarah Elizabeth; daughter, Sandra Little of Centerville and cousins, Richard and Patricia Niles of ME. Memorial Services will be held in Houlton, ME at a later date. If desired, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Unit at St. Leonards Health Center, 8100 Clyo Rd., Centerville, OH 45458.
