Wilbur Dale Stewart

STEWART, Wilbur Dale, age 86, of Kettering, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020. He was born on April 11, 1934 in Kettering, OH to the late Clarence and Edith Stewart.

Wilbur graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School and enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served his community for over a decade in Kettering’s Police Department. Following his police service, Wilbur continued his tenure with the city of Kettering as Transportation Director for the Kettering School System. He went on to work in the Maintenance Department of Centerville City Schools.

Wilbur loved animals (especially small dogs), golf, enjoyed wood carving, and rooting and traveling for his favorite sports teams, The Reds, Bengals, and OSU. He was often spotted at his grandkid’s sporting games and practices, always there to encourage their talents.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia “Patty” (Hayes); siblings, Fred, Edward, Marion, Elizabeth, and David. He is survived by daughter, Dorinda Stewart; son, Wilbur D. Stewart, Jr.; grandchildren, Amber & Renee; great-grandchildren; Cody, Luke, Izzabella, Joey, Amira; step-daughters, Jenny & Julie; step-grandchildren, Travis, Chris, and Matt & Shaun; and extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends 11am-12pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 with a service to begin at 12 NOON at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E STROOP RD, KETTERING. Burial in David’s Cemetery.
